Welcoming the Llŷn and Eifionydd Eisteddfod 2023

The Llŷn and Eifionydd 2023 Eisteddfod will be held between the 5th and 12th of August, 2023 on the Bodfel fields which are located in Buan Parish.

There has been a long wait for this Eisteddfod as the original date was to be 2021 but due to the pandemic it had to be postponed until this year.

In order to welcome everyone to the area, the beautification work has already started and it is nice to see the buzz in the communities. Everyone makes sure that everywhere looks its best in order to offer a warm welcome to all visitors to this small part of Wales.

Here are some examples of what beautifies the Buan Community Council area and thanks to everyone who has set out to create all kinds of small or large decorations.

Here's hoping for a successful Eisteddfod

Buan

Buan is a community in the Llŷn Peninsula, comprising the village of Rhydyclafdy and the districts of Boduan and Ceidio. The community is vast and agriculture is the main industry.

Garn Boduan is located in the north eastern part of the Llŷn and remains of stone round huts from the Iron Age can be seen on the top. There are remains of about 170 huts in total. Two freshwater wells are situated here which allowed the inhabitants to live in the area all year round. Many people walk to the top and on clear days it is possible to see spectacular views for miles.

The village of Rhydycafdy is located a few miles from the town of Pwllheli. There are many stories of how the village got its name, with one story alleging that a hospital for lepers was situated in the vicinity.
